Sew What™ Online with EVarize is a digital adaptation of the award-winning Sew What™ Sewing Camp, now available as an online video series + companion supplies. Originally created by EVarize as an in-person course focused on creative expression, skills development and entrepreneurship for students aged 8-14, the online series features an introductory video and 5 lessons taught by EVarize and Sew What™ alum Zachary Fernandez. Each video is a witty lesson on the basics of sewing, pattern making, portfolio building, croqui use and fashion lingo, offering students the technical and creative skills to turn their ideas into reality.

About The Instructors

EVarize

EVarize is a Bay Area fashion designer and master tailor with over 20 years experience building her EVarize clothing line and working with major brands like Levi Strauss. She created Sew What™ in 2005 as a way to offer Bay Area girls opportunities for passion-discovery and skills development. In 2017 EVarize became BayGanda Foundation’s Executive Director and expanded the Sew What™ curriculum to the Ugandan schools the Foundation supports.

Zachary Fernandez

Zachary Fernandez is an Oakland native and fashion designer. After attending Sew What™, he jump started his career as a finalist on Lifetime’s Project Runway Junior, and winner of Project Runway:Threads. Zachary was later awarded internships at Marchesa, Brandon Maxwell and Monse, and graduated from Parson School of Design in 2021. He is now based in New York City.
