Our Mission & Approach
BayGanda aims to empower girls from the Bay Area to Uganda by promoting self-sustainability through creative arts and education.
WE PURSUE OUR MISSION THROUGH A HOLISTIC APPROACH:
Barrier Removal: A lack of both education and confidence are major barriers for girls on the path to financial independence. In Uganda, we provide resources that enhance their quality of life and ability to learn, including tutors, housing, toiletries, food, and water. Our six-week summer program in the United States gives girls of color from urban communities access to a quality creative camp. Scholarships are offered to families who could not otherwise afford to enroll their children in such a rewarding experience. Girls in Uganda and the Bay Area go through the enriching process of bringing their design visions to life in safe and supportive spaces.
Education: BayGanda provides creative and academic education for young girls in Uganda, where they receive the gift of K-12 boarding school education from the generous sponsorship of American families. In the United States, girls pursue their creative passion through our intensive sewing program while also gaining skills in entrepreneurship. In both regions, we ensure that students understand the importance of using their education and creativity to give back to their communities. Our efforts help to cultivate a tenacious, responsible, and confident spirit in every girl.

Our Vision
We aim to equip girls from the Bay Area to Uganda with the tools they need to succeed in their daily lives, in college, and beyond. Our programming and efforts challenge our girls to tap into newfound strengths and confidence that help them to achieve a more sustainable economic future. We believe that educating girls through art and commerce can have a lasting impact on communities.
